The Free Vst Plugins Database Empty Re: The Free Vst Plugins Database

Post by ValkyrieCeles Sun Mar 02, 2014 5:20 am

So as many of you may or may not know, I am a tad obsessive. My current obsession has been learning the ins and outs of mixing so I can get better at it, and in the process of my valliant quest I have found a decent amount of free (and very good) plug ins. I figured I would post some here for others who are on such a quest as I. I haven’t used them all, but I’ll note the ones I have!

I’ve also ran across some articles on mixing too, primarily about EQ and compression, so if you guys want me to do a post with those as well just lemme know! But without further ado:

Note: All of these links will take you off of the Audio City site and to another one~

General Sources:

www.vst4free.com/

- Whenever I google ‘free ___ VST’ this site pops up. It’s a great source for virtually any sort of plugin you could be looking for, and it re-directs you to the site of the plugin. Of course there’s some trial an derror in selecting plugins, but the descriptions of each plugin is very precise and they describe the way the plugin would sound very well.

http://www.bluecataudio.com/Main/Home/

- A site with some good freebies: You can buy and also get some good freebies on here (EQ and Gain adjustment ones for example) I haven't really used them, but I've read good reviews about them so they'd be worth a try!

http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/

- A great site with a lot of free plugins. The ones I use from here are Ambiance (reverb) EQ and compression. The EQ and reverb are by far some of the best ones I’ve ever seen around the interwebs for free, and some professional audio production blogs I’ve read highly recommend the EQ VST from here.
Note: The EQ and compression plugs from this site don’t have any presets, so definitely know how to use both accordingly if you’re going to download them (learned that the hard way haha).

http://www.demondigital.com/nqlegend.php

- The Nighquist EQ plugin on the site listed above doesn’t have any visual labels so I’ve read, so someone made a nifty legend you can download and drag over the panel so it says what frequency is which!

- An EQ plug I found a few days ago. It’s not as in depth as Niquists, but I like it for the presets it has. It’s good for someone who just needs to slap on a quick EQ for a mix or an EQ noob (like me) and it brightens up the sound nicely, from what I’ve used of it so far.

Classic Compresser
- I’ve been using the Magnis compresser for awhile and just ran across this classic compresser a few days ago, and honestly…I’m sad I didn’t find it sooner. It has a gorgeous way of just bringing out the purity of your vocals, and also has a number of presets that are great too (gotta love presets!) so definitely one to check out.

Classic Chorus
- Another one from Kjaerhusaudio, classic chorus is a really nice free chorus plugin with presets woo! I’ve only used it to play with but it’s really easy to learn how to use for nice snazzy dance FX on a song or something XD

- A Nayami-pick! I was looking for a good auto tune plugin and she recommended this – it’s like, awesome for any auto tune for a dance/electronic song you would need – you can adjust each note individually, the amount of auto tune overall…basically this thing is gonna be yo auto tune bitch if need be lololol.

An OmegaFlash linkity link! Has trial versions of their plugins on here, mostly sinths from what I've gathered: But feel free to explore the site and find some gems~

- I really like EQ plug ins XD I just found this one and have been tinkering with it: A 6 band EQ VST. It processes the signal beautifully: Sounds so pro, and it's a freebie! Definitely worth a download. Note: A bit more advanced and takes a bit more tinkering then other ones, but it has presets to mess with so woo!

http://sonimus.com/products/soneq/

- Aaaand once again another EQ VST: a 3 band Equilizer that also yeilds good results and is free.

That’s all I have so far! There is plenty more out there but these are ones I know for sure work well, either from personal experience or from others recommendations. You may notice a lot of those links are from VST 4 Free- like I said earlier, probably the best place to scope out prospective plugins. It has catagories and sub catagories all over da place. Feel free to post below plug ins you use (preferably freebees) and I’ll try and keep this thread updated!
